At Santa Cruz \u2014 where the protests began three months ago with a wildcat grading strike that ended in the dismissal of some student workers \u2014 students blocked entrances to campus. Mr. Seddon directed an undercover operative to secretly tape the union\u2019s local leaders and try to gather information that could be made public to damage the organization, documents show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">Using a different alias the next year, the same undercover operative infiltrated the congressional campaign of Abigail Spanberger, then a former C.I.A. officer who went on to win <a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/08\/09\/us\/politics\/dave-brat-women-virginia.html\">an important House seat<\/a> in Virginia as a Democrat.
