In the context of India\u2019s education system facing continuous neo-liberal attacks coupled with the increasing communalization of education and the threat that right-wing politics poses to the education system with its inherent casteism and patriarchy, there is an ever pressing need for expressing our strong resistance. Be it deteriorating condition of government schools; auctioning\/closing\/sale of government schools; policies encouraging private universities; policies promoting plunder of our pockets and public funds by private education shops; attacks on democratic spaces of the universities and the banning of teachers\u2019, students\u2019 and employees\u2019 unions; increasing contractualization of teachers; plans to introduce sectarian, majoritarian and anti-people communal-fascist ideas, beliefs and practices in curriculum in name of \u201cIndian values\u201d, the list of communal-fascist and neo-liberal attacks on education is endless. All India Forum for Right to Education (AIFRTE) is organizing an All India Shiksha Sangharsh Yatra-2014 (AISSY-2014) with the objective of building a protracted struggle to resist commercialization and communalization of education and fighting against all other forms of discrimination in education, such as those of caste, class, gender, disability, language, culture and religion Etc<\/p>\n

Students Takeover U Maine Southern Board Meeting In Protest\u00a0<\/strong>University of Southern Maine students frustrated over budget cuts that eliminated programs and led to staff reductions disrupted University of Maine System trustees on Monday, marching into their meeting, chanting “stop the cuts!” and taking seats at their table after the trustees yielded to the cacophonous demonstration.<\/p>\n

Trustees tried to talk to the protesters before giving up and adjourning briefly.<\/p>\n

Chairman Samuel Collins and USM President David Flanagan were shouted down before retreating to the sidelines for 45 minutes, allowing demonstrators to stage a sit-in at their table. Flanagan supported proposals to eliminate programs and 50 faculty positions to save $6 million. Syracuse Students Seize Admin Building, Still there after ten days and threats \u00a0<\/strong>Syracuse University students occupying the administration building for the last 10 days could now be disciplined, the administration has told the protesters.<\/p>\n

Daniel French, SU’s general counsel, delivered Friday night to students in the administration building a personalized envelope containing a copy of SU’s code of student conduct and the campus disruption policy, with sections highlighted under which each student could be disciplined.<\/p>\n

The 8 p.m. delivery had a chilling effect on some students, said Ben Kuebrich, a student organizer. Some, particularly foreign students with student visas, left the building today. About 20 students remain tonight, Kuebrich said.
