Regarding School Pay For Performance Plans (NYT 3/5)

Pay for performance is designed to produce students who see themselves as loyal and obedient (the inner cop connecting to the outer), as customers (if I shop an easy class, more pay) and who, as I saw for ten years in a teacher education program, say, "tell me what to do and I will do it," the ethic of war criminals. Teachers volunteering to participate in this company store will find their wages matching the parental income and race of their students as that is what high-stakes exams measure. And, when the money runs out to buy off the kiddies, educators will find themselves without health benefits.
